SES members provide research teams with full methodological support at all survey stages.
Prior to data collection
Pre-survey exploratory approaches
Designing and collecting data following existing qualitative survey approaches—interviews, observation, cognitive testing, audial recording of questionnaire interviews—and analyzing what can be learned from them
Questionnaire design and testing
Assisting with questionnaire design, testing and analyses of concepts, question formulation, questionnaire structure and coherence, respondent filtering, time length, questionnaire specifications (filters, range and boundaries, types of variables), and keeping track of survey schedules and performance (survey publicity, filter operation/performance, etc.).
Field survey protocols design and test
Design, testing and analysis of field protocols: contacting respondents, communication on the survey (survey presentation, arguments for it, supporting material), defining data collection modes (mixed-mode and multi-intervention), related issues (e.g., non-response), designing field access and follow-up tools such as letters or notices to respondents, information brochures, a dedicated survey website, address and contact cards, respondent reminders (paper, emails, text messages, etc.).
During data collection
Training and tracking teams in the field
Listening to telephone survey-taking? [je n’ai pas bien compris ce que sont les “écoutes de terrains téléphoniques”.amy], discussing and assessing survey procedures and processes with interviewers, monitoring data collection quality and progress.
After data collection
Qualitative post-survey approaches
Designing, collecting, transcribing, synthesizing and analyzing qualitative interviews
Writing data collection assessments and methodological articles
Coding specific open questions, occupations, and socio-occupational categories
