The population of the world (2003)

Abstract

Every other year, the summer issue of Population and Societies presents a global picture of the world population. The data shown here can be found in the World Population Data Sheet published by the Population Reference Bureau (PRB) [1]. Each year, this independent organization provides synthetic data sheets using figures obtained from different sources, mainly the United Nations Population Division [2], the United States Census Bureau, the Council of Europe and… INED [3], which endeavours to assemble all the demographic data published by national statistics agencies and international organizations.
